Press Record. We’ll Handle the Rest.
Office Hours update for organizers: we have a simpler video workflow for event talks.
The goal is simple. Capture high-quality raw footage, upload it to your event folder at /media/upload, and HQ handles the editing.
What to capture (keep it simple)
- Put one camera on a tripod in the back of the room.
- Record in horizontal mode (1080p is great).
- Prioritize audio. If you want to be fancy, add a Bluetooth or lapel mic.
- Keep each talk as one raw clip. No trimming needed.
- Upload one file per talk, with audio and video combined. If you record screen and audio to separate files (OBS, ScreenFlow, Riverside, Zoom local + external mic), mux them into a single file before uploading.
That is it.
Optional upgrade: show the authority of the room
If your team has the equipment and a second camera operator, capture three complementary views:
- Screen capture for readable demos, slides, and code.
- A locked speaker camera for a clear, dependable view of the presenter.
- A roving room camera for wide shots, audience reactions, questions, and moments of engagement.
The room camera is not just decorative B-roll. It shows that the speaker is presenting to a real, engaged technical community. Those shots turn a talk recording into social proof: prospective attendees can feel the energy of the event, speakers can see the audience response, and sponsors can understand the quality and reach of the room.
Capture a few steady 5-10 second shots before the talk, during audience reactions, and around Q&A. Do not block sightlines or distract from the speaker. If you only have one camera, use the simple tripod setup above; clear audio and complete coverage still matter most.
What HQ handles
After you upload the raw files, HQ handles production:
- Split videos into individual speaker talks
- Clean up cuts and pacing
- Add AI Tinkerers logo overlay
- Add speaker name/title lower-thirds
- Apply consistent visual standards
- Return hosted video links for organizers and speakers
If needed, HQ can also publish from official channels after review.
How /media/upload works for organizers
For chapters in the Video Kit program, each event gets its own upload folder automatically. You will get a direct folder link in your organizer reminder email.
Then:
- Open your event upload link (or go to
/media/upload) - Drag in raw files (up to 20GB per file)
- Done
No editing pass. No graphics work. No export settings.
Why this matters
Your local team can focus on running great events and getting strong demos on camera. HQ turns that raw footage into polished, shareable talk videos that organizers and speakers can use right away. When you also capture the room, the finished video can show not only what was presented, but why the gathering itself is worth joining and supporting.
For your next event, the checklist is: camera, optional mic, raw upload.
