Private Cloud Compute (PCC) is Apple's groundbreaking cloud intelligence system: It extends device-level security to the cloud for advanced AI processing, ensuring user data is never stored or accessible to Apple.

PCC is the secure, cloud-based infrastructure powering computationally intensive features within Apple Intelligence (e.g., complex generative models). The system runs on custom Apple silicon server nodes, which incorporate hardware security features like the Secure Enclave, mirroring the protection of iPhone and Mac devices. PCC guarantees stateless computation: User data is processed ephemerally, solely for the inference request, and immediately deleted, with no logging or retention. This architecture eliminates privileged runtime access for Apple staff and offers verifiable transparency, allowing researchers to inspect the security claims via a Virtual Research Environment (VRE).
