ChromaDB is the open-source vector database built for LLM applications, providing simple, fast semantic search via embedding management.

ChromaDB is your go-to open-source embedding database for building advanced LLM applications, specifically Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems. It simplifies the storage, indexing, and querying of vector embeddings and their metadata, enabling fast Approximate Nearest Neighbor (ANN) similarity search. Developers appreciate its lightweight design: it runs in-memory, persistently using SQLite 3, or in client/server mode, offering robust Python and JavaScript SDKs. With over 5M+ monthly downloads and deep integration with tools like LangChain and LlamaIndex, Chroma is a proven, developer-friendly component for your AI stack.

## Recent Public Talks and Demos

### [How I built a Multi-Agent system from scratch](https://da-nang.aitinkerers.org/talks/rsvp_J6dVjfFty_w)

A multi-agent AI system with three context control mechanisms I discovered while building it: context enhancement, context shrinking, and unique tool result handling. The demo shows agents collaborating while these mechanisms silently manage context across handoffs.

### [What you can do with a used GPU](https://nurnberg.aitinkerers.org/talks/rsvp_YlYa6jJt-us)

A private Telegram-based personal knowledge assistant that lets me save notes from my phone, store and retrieve them with ChromaDB on a VPS accessible anytime, and ask questions answered by a local llama.cpp model running on my home GPU over a private network i setup. Will show probably everything, or as much as i can in the time i have, but demo's are fun and I want to show how the information propagates through what parts of the code to what parts of my telegram UX and use it on stage with suggestions from the crowd for notes. and maybe also show how we can change the prompt handling this assistant on the fly without touching the code using the agenta prompt management platform. maybe also show how i setup lamacpp for maximum inference time even for low vram machines with big beefy models.

### [Turning Claude into a Transactional Lawyer: Building a Legal Contract RAG System as an MCP Server](https://raleigh.aitinkerers.org/talks/rsvp_s4Fh6KIHlHg)

I built a RAG agent for answering questions about contracts, then converted it to an MCP server that gives Claude the ability to search, analyze, and compare a corpus of 500+ legal contracts using retrieval-augmented generation. In the demo, I'll connect it to Claude Desktop and show multi-turn contract Q&A — asking about termination clauses, comparing provisions across agreements, and testing whether the system resists hallucinating clauses that don't exist.

### [Sentinel - AI Document Intelligence for Regulated Teams](https://dc.aitinkerers.org/talks/rsvp_dme7MO875dE)

Sentinel is an AI document intelligence agent that helps regulated teams review complex documents faster by cross-referencing them against trusted evidence, surfacing risks and obligations, and producing outputs that are fully traceable and defensible.

### [Graph Memory in Agent Environments — a Live Walkthrough](https://seattle.aitinkerers.org/talks/rsvp_GJN7vv4ZQ1A)

Agents don’t come alive in isolation—they need environments with durable memory, hybrid search, solid orchestration, and clean human-in-the-loop affordances. In this live demo, we’ll run an agent inside Wings Studio, and show exactly how graph memory powers the environment. Zero fluff, just a working system, the internals, and lessons you can reuse.

### [ExpertFinder - Harvard E115 (Spring) Final Project](https://bogota.aitinkerers.org/talks/rsvp_jesmlykrPWc)

ExpertFinder is the final project for Harvard’s E115 Spring 2025 course (Advanced Practical Data Science) that helps users identify credible experts through a natural-language search system. It integrates natural language search with embeddings and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), stores profiles in a vector database (ChromaDB), and tracks data with DVC. The system calculates a credibility score using features like experience, education, and citations. It is deployed on Google Kubernetes Engine with containerization, Kubernetes orchestration, Nginx ingress, Ansible automation, and CI/CD via GitHub Actions.
