Anthropic's Claude Agent SDK is a developer toolkit in Python and TypeScript that packages the autonomous agent loop, context management, and tools powering Claude Code into an embeddable library.

The Claude Agent SDK gives developers direct access to the same robust agentic engine that drives Claude Code. Available for Python and TypeScript, this library eliminates the tedious boilerplate of manual loop management (such as checking stop reasons, executing tools, and feeding results back). It handles complex agentic workflows out of the box, offering built-in context compaction to prevent token exhaustion, support for Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, and native tools for file system navigation and bash execution. By exposing these capabilities through a simple async generator, the SDK allows teams to build, test, and deploy highly autonomous agents directly within their own infrastructure and pipelines.
