It identifies and systematically removes non-value-adding activities (the 'seven wastes': overproduction, waiting, transport, over-processing, inventory, motion, and defects) across any process. Pioneered by Toyota in the mid-20th century, Lean principles enable organizations to deliver higher quality, faster, and at a lower cost, driving continuous improvement and efficiency gains.
