I'm always getting whipped by my 10 year old son when we do "build battles" in Minecraft, so I thought, "What if I could just talk to the computer, and have it build me epic worlds in Minecraft?" Is it just a trick up my sleeve, or a sneaky way to get my tween into AI using Python? ;) And so armed only with open source tools, I attempted to vibe code an MCP server that would allow me to chat using natural language, and have stellar fortresses appear before my eyes in Minecraft. This was a journey fraught with false starts, twists and turns and serendipitous learnings and discoveries.
