Open UI, a W3C Community Group, is driving the effort to fully specify the component parts, states, and behaviors of built-in web UI controls. This initiative provides developers with the necessary hooks to style and extend native elements, such as checkboxes or color pickers, without resorting to complex third-party framework reinventions. The goal is clear: establish a high-quality, compatible standard for the web platform, reducing component churn and improving accessibility across the board.
