Shapely

Shapely is a BSD-licensed Python library designed for the precise manipulation and analysis of planar geometric objects.

Built on the C++ GEOS library (the engine powering PostGIS), Shapely provides Python developers with a clean API to perform deterministic spatial analysis without the overhead of a full geographic information system. It handles core Cartesian operations: building buffers, calculating centroids, and executing set-theoretic queries like intersections or unions across points, lines, and polygons.
