SSH
SSH (Secure Shell) is a network protocol enabling secure remote access and data exchange over unsecured networks.
SSH (Secure Shell) is a cryptographic network protocol that allows secure remote login and other secure network services to operate over an unsecured network. Developed in 1995 by Tatu Ylönen, it replaced insecure protocols like Telnet and rlogin. SSH operates on TCP port 22, encrypting traffic to prevent eavesdropping, connection hijacking, and other attacks. It authenticates both the client and the server, commonly using passwords, public keys, or host-based authentication. This robust security makes SSH essential for system administrators managing servers remotely and for secure file transfers via SCP and SFTP.
