Built on libSQL (an open-source fork of SQLite), the platform allows developers to run databases in-process, on-device, or replicated globally across dozens of locations. By decoupling storage and compute, Turso supports massive multi-tenancy (enabling users to spin up thousands of isolated database instances on a single account) while offering built-in vector search and microsecond-level local reads via embedded replicas.
