WinRM (Windows Remote Management) is Microsoft's implementation of the WS-Management protocol, enabling secure remote management and data exchange across diverse hardware and operating systems.

WinRM is Microsoft's robust implementation of the WS-Management protocol, a SOAP-based, firewall-friendly standard for remote management. It allows IT professionals to securely execute commands, manage configurations, and collect data from Windows-based systems and other WS-Management compatible devices across a network. WinRM leverages PowerShell for scripting and can operate over HTTP (port 5985) or HTTPS (port 5986) for encrypted communication, utilizing Kerberos for initial authentication by default.
